Three remote locations extend Curry Rail Services’ reach beyond our full-service shops, providing customers with additional access points for quick-turn railcar service and support.
Savanna, Illinois – supporting customers throughout the Midwest
Baytown, Texas – supporting the Houston and Gulf Coast region
Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania – providing additional support near our full-service Hollidaysburg facility.
These locations help position our teams closer to customer operations, reduce unnecessary railcar movement and provide additional flexibility for work that does not require a full-service shop.
Certifications & Qualifications
Work performed through our remote locations is coordinated with the certifications, qualified personnel and procedures required for the specific scope of work. Curry Rail Services is supported by the following certifications and qualifications:
AAR M-1002 – Tank Car Repair and Modification
AAR M-1003 – Freight Car Repair and Modification
AWS CWI, ASNT NDT Level III and other applicable personnel qualifications
AAR C-5 activity-code certification – Tank car valve repair
AAR C-6 activity-code certification – Tank car valve replacement
Tank Car Maintenance and Repair
Tank car work performed through our remote locations is evaluated based on the required service scope, applicable activity codes, commodity history and site conditions. Available services may include:
- AAR C-5 certified valve repair
- AAR C-6 certified valve replacement
- Handrail, railing and end-platform repair
- Safety-appliance repair and replacement
- Reflective sheeting installation and replacement
- Tank car requalification
- Wheel, draft-gear, center-plate, coupler, truck and brake-system repair
- Certified welding repairs
- Bubble-leak testing
- Air-brake testing
Freight Car Maintenance and Repair
Tank car work performed through our remote locations is evaluated based on the required service scope, applicable activity codes, commodity history and site conditions. Available services may include:
- Gravity and pneumatic outlet-gate repair or replacement
- Bolt, hatch-cover and foot-latch repair or replacement
- Stenciling and reflective-safety-marking work
- Knuckle and pin replacement
- Grating and brake-shoe replacement
- Handrail, railing and end-platform repair
- Safety-appliance repair or replacement

Inspection, Service and Testing
Our remote locations support a range of inspection, testing and condition-assessment services for freight and tank cars. Services are coordinated based on the required scope, equipment type, commodity history and applicable qualifications. Services may include:
- Inbound and outbound railcar inspections
- Pre-lease and post-lease inspections
- Railcar interchange and mechanical inspections
- Detailed inspection reporting
- Bubble-leak testing
